Beds Replacement

Replacing a fleet of beds is one of the more significant investments that an Acute Trust makes. On the face of it this should be a relatively straightforward process. However, ensuring that best value is achieved requires a focus, not only on Day One costs, but on the costs throughout the entire lifecycle of the fleet. Not only must the cost of frames be taken into account, but also the cost of a range of different mattresses that must be maintained, sterilised and replaced throughout the life of the frames. In fact, the total cost of a bed fleet throughout the lifecycle can be as much as five times the cost of the frames themselves. Capitalising on the commercial and negotiating skills developed in almost 20 years of helping the NHS achieve best value in complex financing arrangements, Leaseguard has extensive experience of structuring bed replacement programmes to achieve significantly lower lifecycle costs, greater flexibility and lower downstream risk. Our Bed Replacement Planning service operates, in common with most Leaseguard services, on a no-win, no-fee basis. We generate our fees based solely on the savings we generate on the Trust's behalf. In previous assignments, we have been able to generate savings of as much as 25% of the lifecycle costs of beds, mattresses and associated costs.
